The Anchormen, Rhode Island's original competition barbeque team since 1998, has been constantly competitive in east coast contests. In 2007, we finished in fifth place of 170 teams in the New England Barbeque Society. We consistently rank in the top 15% of KCBS teams across the country. Original team captain Ray Depot of Naragansett, Rhode Island, has been competing with a variety of teammates since 1998. He and his brother Bob Depot, of Castleton, New York, joined forces with Eric Johnson and Grace Thompson of the New York State team “Smoke on the Water” beginning with the 2007 competition season.  With our eye on a World Championship, choosing to compete under the Rhode Island flag provides enhanced marketing opportunities as Rhode Island’s Original Award Winning Team.
